The Hanged Man is the next character the Fool meets on her Hero's Journey. ย When the Hanged Man appears, it feels as though all progress has come to a halt. ย
There is a need to surrender control of the situation, because the more we fight, the more entangled we become. ย Most situations can be influenced by our action, but sometimes, it seems as though we are being suspended in time, frozen, inert. ย
We may feel stuck, and no matter which way we turn, there seems to be no good way to move forward. ย Resistance will only cause us to suffer. ย When we are faced with a hanged man situation, it's time to take a brand new perspective. ย
Sometimes we need to flip a situation upside down, to see it in a different way. ย Maybe the thing that feels like a trap is actually a lesson or a blessing in disguise. ย
Sometimes the only way to gain clarity is to hang in suspense, surrender to the unknown situation, and in doing so, gain wisdom and patience. ย
The Hanged man can be a really difficult step on the journey if we are eager to keep moving forward, but the hanged man teaches us that there are times to just witness what is happening, without meddling or trying to effect the outcome. ย This is another time when there are larger forces at work, and divine timing is keeping you in place for now. ย
The Hanged Man is a gift, because it opens us up to new ways of perceiving life, gaining new knowledge, even though it means sacrificing our old, familiar viewpoints. ย
Next, we will meet one of the scariest cards in the Tarot Deck, DEATH. ย But don't worry, it is not as ominous as it appears....
