We have reached the Eight of cups on our Minor Arcana Tarot Journey.  Emotions are difficult, and the eight of cups represents a very heavy heart and some of the most difficult times in the hero's journey.

The Eight of Cups card is about walking away from a situation that is no longer serving us.  The cups are all stacked, the situation has been mulled over, and over, and the mountains of confusion in the background symbolize how we cannot continue to grow and follow our highest path if we allow ourselves to stay stuck.

Leaving behind someone we love, is one of the most painful things we ever will have to do, especially when there is a history with that person.  The Hero leans on her staff to support her as she heads into the unknown, with the moon as her guiding light.  

It could be a career we are leaving behind, and we mourn because of all the energy we put into it, the friends we made along the way, and the feeling of loss that is inevitable with this card.

This card is sad.  Leaving someone or something you love is sad.  This card honors that emotion.  But just like with every phase of our hero's journey, there is  always a happy card coming next, after we have dealt with some heavy emotional baggage that needed to be released.  

The minor arcana cards help us to navigate life's path, with all the layers happening simultaneously.  The cups cards helps us glimpse into the emotional layer, and makes sense of it.
